Smaller Government: The Three-Letter Mafia

The “Three-Letter Mafia.” People have become aware of the “Alphabet Mafia” as it entails the LGBTQIA+ and BLM, however the three-letter mafia is only a more recent term being thrown around on the right, referring the three-letter acronym departments that help run the executive branch. This “mafia,” like a real mafia, is seeded with corruption and lustful over the idea of power. Another cesspool of sin to unveil.

How many of us grew up with positive sentiments about the FBI or CIA? What about the CDC? Most of us placed these departments of the federal government on a pedestal. Surely they could not be corrupted from within! After all, they were designed to be non-partisan, according to all the talking heads—or were they?

We have successfully gone through the first three branches of government in our Smaller Government series. For each of those branches, I discussed the need for change, in addition to giving alternative solutions to showcase a smaller government in the 21st century. Now, in this next part of this series, the “three-letter mafia” from the executive branch will be reexamined. This will include, but not be limited to, the FBI, CIA, CDC, FDA, EPA, TSA, NSA, etcetera. Why is this important to reevaluate?

Currently, there are 15 departments in the executive branch. That’s five times more than America started off with under George Washington. This signifies how the executive branch has increased its size and power over the last 233 years since the Constitution was put into practice. Many people on the right share the sentiment that these departments have overstayed their welcome, and this is not unwarranted.

Americans have seen and learned of some questionable decisions by these departments over the last several years—the FBI raiding the home of a former president being one of them. Then there is the FBI wiretapping the presidential campaign; the FBI lying to a court to justify their investigation of a president; the CIA conspiring to kill our own president; the CDC preventing landlords from evicting tenants not paying their rent; and the IRS targeting conservative organizations seeking tax-exempt status. And this is only the tip of the iceberg!

These departments, we’ll learn, did not all have benevolent intentions behind them when they were first established. They were a response to events that took place in America by the federal government who sought to get control. Some critics go further, by suggesting that certain events were allowed or manufactured to justify increasing the role of the executive branch. These conspiracies will be explored; however, this is not to be taken as gospel, either. It should be taken with a grain of salt, as all I am doing is providing the information that the establishment does not want the average person to have.

Each of these departments will be put on trial, with Taboo Topic being the investigator. Their history and current actions will be evaluated to see whether it would provide a net positive good for society if we abolished them. Then you, the reader, will be the jury to decide whether we are better off without these departments. It is the American way. It is important to not get stuck in our echo chambers, in order to have the most nuanced perspective humanly possible. Smaller government does not mean anarchy, but limiting the powers that be. That’s the challenge: finding the balance between anarchy and tyranny in creating a blueprint of a government that serves the people.
